First of all, I'll write about the difference in size between Saudi Arabia and The United States of America. There are a huge difference in size between Saudi and the USA. The size of Saudi is probably 2 million and 100 k Km2.On the other hand, the United States size is probably 9 million and 600 k Km2. Also, its a huge difference between them.
The second thing that I'll write about is the population. The difference between Saudi and the USA in population is an extremely huge difference. The population in the US is probably 300 million. While, in Saudi the population is probably 24 million, and that is a big difference. In addition, the population in Saudi is lower than the population in California which is a state in the west coast of the US.
Finally, I'll write about the difference in language. Arabic is official language and the only language In Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, The USA official language is English. The thing which is unique in the US is the multiple languages in most of the states. For example, Texas has TWO official languages English and spanish also in Louisiana they have two official languages English and French.
Fahd,
good work. Is Spanish the "official" language in Texas? I'm not sure about that...
I'm sorry I meant New Mexico. Also, I think its useful to learn Spanish than English , if you are planing to stay in houston.
:-)
Is it true that Spanish is the official language of New Mexico? I didn't know that! (I know that people speak Spanish there, as they do here, but I didn't know that it was "officially" the language--whatever that means, anyhow)

First, I want talk about the difference between Houston and my city (Shanghai) in transportation. In my city, we have bus and taxi everywhere. We also have 12 lines of undergrounds. It’s very easy for us to go every part of the city. You can see many bicycles, electric bike, scooter, and motorcycle on the street. This is one of the main transportation for us, because car is expensive for most of them. If you want buy a cheapest bike, it just cost you about 20 dollars. Our stores also very near; therefore we don’t need drive cars. So it is first chose for many families. But in Houston, most of people drive cars. Although they also have bus here, still not so many people by bus. The first reason is it takes long time, because most of the stores are very far and separate. The second reason is cars here are not so expensive for them. The third reason is it is very dangers at night if you walk on the street after you take a bus.
Second, the political system is so different bet China and American. In china, we’d better not talk about political topic. Although China already changed a lot, we still abstain from it. In the past, we can not talk about polity, it made us don’t want talk about it nowadays. Before I take Chinese University Entrance Exam, my teacher told us doesn’t write about politics and faith. If you write it, your score will be very low. In America, no one care about it, because America is free country. You can talk everything you like. Like the vote this time, every showed their opinions. It made me not very comfortable.
Third, Chinese and American eat different food. In China, our main dish is rice or noodle. We eat these almost everyday. Like my father, he said:” If he didn’t eat a meal with rice, he will feel he didn’t eat a meal.” In America, they don’t have fixed and only consumed main dish. They eat bread, rice, pizza, noodle, potato and etc.
I will tell you today about some
differences in behavior rules which related to the culture in American world and Arabic world. It is just as comparison/contrast points.
Let us start by the Arabic world which is considered as a restricted culture.
The child must learn how to be polite when call others starting by two years ,to explain that he(she) must show more respect to the grand father and grand mother ,to call any relative he use uncle or aunt as prefix and use Ms. and Mr. to his teacher. If he did not be polite, otherwise he will get punishment.
The child always is a second degree person, so he does not allow to speak in front adults or at a big family meeting unless adults give him their permission.
By the way he will be under his family protect and financial support at any sitution,at the same time he could not allow to leave the house until he get married, however,he still response toward his family to rest his life.
Looking now to Aerican world which is considered as a free culture, the child does not push to use prefix -names when he call any person, even some times he could call his parents by their first names.
In American culture the child is considered as first degree person who can speak with any one in his family meetings, at any conditions.
The family is not requisite to support him financially when he become colleague age and he have the right to leave home at eighteenth, that he does not have any responsibility toward his family, unless he got this decision.
I want to talk about the difference between Houston and my city, Dalian. The first thing is the climate. Compared with Houston, the weather in Dalian is cooler. Because it is near the sea, so the weather is moist, it is warm in winter and cool in summer. Thus, many people will come to Dalian in summer to enjoy the mild weather and play on the beach. While in Houston, I feel it is hot. Even though it is already in December, we still wear short T-shirt. The summer time last so long.
The second difference is the food. The most food I eat in Houston are burgers and fried chickens. However, in Dalian I always eat a lot of seafood, such as crab, fish, shrimp and sea cucumber. They are scrumptious. (Now I miss those seafood.)
The third difference is the drinks. American people usually like to drink coffee. Everyday I see many teachers and students drink coffee, which can provide them with more energy, but the more is that they have already form the habits of drinking coffee, and they rely on coffee. Unlike Americans, Chinese people prefer to drink tea. Different kinds of tea have different efficacy. Some are good for eyes, and some are good for promoting digestion.
there is a vast different between Libya and US in many ways such as:
the frist different is geografical and historical. Libya located it north Africa with costal border in the south of the mid. sea, and it was considered as a part of the old world, and it was alwayes had a role in the history of mankind; in contrast the US located in north America which considered as the new world. the US has been playing a major role in the contemporary history only because it had discovered in the fiftheenth century.
another different between Libya and US is in the culture. Libya is an Arabic country, all libyan people speak arabic as a native language (arabic ethnic) and the offical religion of the county is Eslam. on the other hand US people are Engilsh speakers as a native language; people are mixed from different origion and different religions.
There are a lot of aspects of my country and U.S in contrast. Fist, the population is different. In my country, the pupulation is around 28 million. However, in the U.S, the pupulation is almost 300 million.
Second, the food is totally different. In my country, we are used to eating chinese food which is spicy and salty. On the other hand, the food in U.S is not so spicy. Some American even like to eat something healthy without salt and oil.
The last difference which I want to introduce is medical care. In my country, when we get sick, it won't spend too much money because the government pay a huge part of the costs. The cost of helthy care is low, whereas it is high in the U.S. If we go to see a doctor in the U.S, it will spend at least over 200 dollars. But in my country, it will only spend probably 3 dollars. Therefore, there are a lot of differences between my country and the U.S.
First,I'll tell about the differance between gas prices. There is a really big difference that no one can imagine. In US the gas prices per gallon is around 1.6 dollars.(1 gallon is equal with 3.78... liter). In Turkey 1 liter is around 2.7 Turkish liras(2.7 Turkish liras is equal with 2 dollars). Can you imagine that? In other words, people in Houston full their gas tank around 30 dollars.I full my gas tank for something around 150 dollars!
On the other hand, there is also difference between Turkey's population and US's population.Turkey's population is 74 million and US's population is around 300 million but if you compare the area of two cities, for example, Istanbul which is my city, is 5712 km2 and 13 million people live in there. In Houston 6 million people live and the area is 26,061 km2.Now you will think that Istanbul is a really crowded city, isn't it?
Last thing that I want to compare is city life.I know it is a little bit off topic but I want to say because I really don't like it =). I have never seen a crowd that walking on the streets in Houston.Everybody drive instead of walking or using public transportation. In my city, people prefer using public transportation and walking than driving because sometimes traffic makes people crazy especially in rush hour.In my opinion, Houston needs subway.
at the beginning, i would like to talk about the difference of education between America and Vietnam. while students in America have the right to choose their teachers, in Vietnam, students do not have any voices about this. Vietnamese students are supposed to respect their teachers rather than oppose any aspects. As a result, students in Vietnam tend to be passive and rarely demonstrate their ideas during the lectures while in American, students are often active to show their opinions during the class otherwise teachers might think they are not interested in the lecture or "die".
secondly, in American, women are almost equal to men in the social roles even in the political activities. On the other hand, so far, Vietnam is still a traditional country where women are considered lower than men. however, this gap is vague and it is going to reduce recently.
the last thing i would like to compare between these 2 countries is the size of regions. America is vast with many states spreading from either North to South or East to West. On the other hand, Vietnam has "S" shape which elongates from North to South. Therefore, in Vietnam, the weather changes is not as vast as it does in American
