Here is what I'd like you to do for the party on Friday:
Get together with the people in 5A and 5B who either are from the same country and/or speak the same language as you. For example, we have several students from Korea (Yoorim, Viola, Henry, Daehyung, Soon, and Leo--are there others?) and two from Turkey (Umut and Berk). All of the Koreans and all of the Turks (etc., etc.,) should get together to do the following:
As a group, I want you to make a presentation--it can be a story, a song, a skit (acting), or something else that you think of. The theme is something frightening. For example, in the U.S., we have "ghost stories." The goal of a ghost story is to scare the people who are listening to it. If you'd like to tell a ghost story, each person in the group should tell part of the story. Or you can act it out. Be creative! In English, of course! Or maybe you know a song about monsters or ghosts (in your langauge) that you can sing for the class and then translate for us.
We can talk more about this in class but I want you to start thinking...
Quynh, I'm sorry that you're the only Vietnamese speaker in the 2 classes. You can make your own presentation or you can immigrate to another group! I'm sure that Vladimir would adopt you!
Hana and Talal: You can be your own group or you can join the other Arabic speakers. It's your choice.
Fabiana, Karla, and Vera: How about being one group from S. America?
Eason, will you join the China group or would you rather be an "independent" representative for Taiwan?
Vladimir and Julie, can the two of you represent the Russian language/culture?
I hope you have fun with this. I'll bring my video camera!
p.s. Sandra and I will represent the USA with a presentation of our own!

it sounds interesting..cant wait till that day
Hi Everybody,
For those of you who had presentations today, please accept my apology for not having enough time. Perhaps we can do the presentations another time; let me think about when...
For those of you who brought food and delicacies, thank you. A special thanks to Hana for making the beautiful couscous dish which everybody enjoyed. Hana, we know that you are very busy with your life and we appreciate your taking the time to make something special for the class.
Also, thanks to everybody for playing such a good game! It's amazing to see how fast people can speak (in English) when there is some competition! We'll have to have more of them, I suppose.
Have a great weekend,
HC
